Loonie tumbles below 83 cents
JOHN PARTRIDGE
Globe and Mail Update
The Canadian dollar plummeted farther than it ever has before in a single day Friday, as currency and equity investors around the world still appeared intent on bombing themselves back to the Stone Age.
The loonie had plunged to 82.97 by about 2.30 p.m. (ET) down a startling 3.98 cents from Thursday's official Bank of Canada close.
The level was one not seen by the Canadian currency since Nov. 4, 2004, according to the Bank of Canada website.
