The Toronto Maple Leafs will get two players back into the lineup for Saturday afternoon's game against the Detroit Red Wings — forwards Alexander Steen and Nik Antropov.
Steen said Friday after practice that his injured shoulder "feels the best it's been since I was injured."
Head coach Paul Maurice said a final decision would not be made until game time, but all signs pointed to Steen's return after missing six games.
Antropov will be back after completing a three-game NHL suspension for throwing his stick toward the game officials after a loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Jan. 31.
The Leafs will still be missing forward Chad Kilger, who took leave to deal with a family matter. His absence is now at five games and could be longer because he will have to get back into game shape when he returns.
The club says his absence is a confidential matter.
To make room for Antropov and Steen, forward Ben Ondrus was sent back to the Toronto Marlies, the Leafs' farm team in the AHL.
