Canada completed a golden sweep Saturday at the world senior curling championships.
Edmonton's Pat Ryan won the men's crown, defeating Sweden 8-0 to cap an undefeated run. Diane Foster of Lethbridge, Alta., won the women's title with a convincing 10-2 decision over Scotland.
Ryan dominated the men's final much like he did the entire competition. He was the lone undefeated skip in the round robin, finishing atop the Red Group with a perfect 8-0 record. Ryan advanced to the final with a 7-2 semifinal win Saturday over Scotland.
Ryan scored singles in six of the championship match's seven ends, the exception being the sixth end when he scored two. He was up 8-0 when the match was halted after the seventh end.
Ryan's rink took control of its semifinal match against Scotland with five in the fifth to break open a close match and take a commanding 7-1 lead in a match that ended after six ends.
Foster's rink broke its championship game open with three in the third end for a 4-1 lead. The Canadians then scored two in the fifth, sixth and seventh ends to cement the victory.
In her semifinal match earlier Saturday, Foster scored five in the fourth end to break a 1-1 tie en route to an 8-3 win over Switzerland in seven ends.
Foster's rink finished the round robin in first place with a 7-2 record.
