FC Twente will play in the Champions League next season after holding Ajax to a 0-0 draw Sunday in the Dutch league playoffs final.
Twente advanced on a 2-1 aggregate to leave Ajax with a UEFA Cup spot.
PSV Eindhoven, the Dutch league champion, has already secured one of the Netherlands' two Champions League berths.
Twente goalkeeper Sander Boschker made a diving save to deny Luis Suarez from 25 yards in the 84th minute. It was Ajax's best chance in a game controlled by Twente.
Veteran midfielder Edgar Davids and defender John Heitinga played their last match for Ajax.
It is not clear where Davids, who has been at AC Milan, Juventus, FC Barcelona, Inter Milan and Tottenham, will next play. While Heitinga will join Atletico Madrid on a five-year contract next season.
It was also Ajax coach Adri Koster's last match in charge. Koster replaced Henk ten Cate last October and led the club to a second-place league finish. Netherlands coach Marco van Basten will take charge at Ajax next season, while Twente coach Fred Rutten will lead Schalke in the Bundesliga.
