Elsewhere, Minnesota blanks Phoenix and the Red Wings scored three in the third to beat Tamps Bay

Penguins 5, Flyers 4 (SO)

At Pittsburgh, rookie Alex Goligoski scored on his first shootout attempt after Sidney Crosby tied it late in the third period with his second goal, and the Penguins rallied to beat the Philadelphia Flyers after blowing a three-goal lead.

Simon Gagne scored twice short-handed during a four-goal second period that put the Flyers up 4-3, but the Penguins came back to win two nights after they rallied from three goals down in the third period to beat Detroit 7-6 in overtime.

Backup goalie Dany Sabourin, who replaced Marc-Andre Fleury to start the third period, stopped all 11 shots he faced before turning aside all six Philadelphia shooters in the shootout. Evgeni Malkin scored and set up Crosby's tying goal as the Penguins went into overtime for the eighth time in 16 games. They are 6-2 in extra time, including 3-1 in shootouts.

Wild 4, Coyotes 0

At St. Paul, Minn., Niklas Backstrom stopped 24 shots for his second shutout of the season, and Minnesota scored four power-play goals to beat Phoenix.

Marek Zidlicky scored twice and had an assist for Minnesota, which defeated the Coyotes for the ninth straight time. Eric Belanger and Andrew Brunette also scored, and Marc-Andre Bergeron had two assists.

Backstrom, who beat Tampa Bay 1-0 on Oct. 18, is 8-0 against the Coyotes with a 1.13 goals-against average and three shutouts.

Phoenix, which had won three straight, was shut out for the second time in five games.

Red Wings 4, Lightning 3

At Tampa, Fla., Henrik Zetterberg, Mikael Samuelsson and Johan Franzen scored third-period goals and Detroit beat the Lightning.

Pavel Datsyuk also scored for the defending Stanley Cup champions, and Chris Osgood had 15 saves to improve to 17-0 against Tampa Bay.

Mark Recchi, Jussi Jokinen and Matt Pettinger scored for the Lightning, who were outshot 39-18 and lost their third straight.

Kings 3, Stars 2

At Dallas, Michal Handzus and Kyle Quincey scored power-play goals and Erik Ersberg made 24 saves to help Los Angeles extend its winning streak to four games.

Jarret Stoll added his sixth goal of the season for the Kings.

Brad Richards and Mike Ribeiro had power-play goals for Dallas. The slumping Stars lost for the fifth time in six games.

The game was a rematch of Tuesday night's meeting in Los Angeles won by the Kings in a shootout, 3-2.
