Two teams peaking at the right time will butt heads Tuesday night in Arlington, Tex., where the Toronto Blue Jays will play the first of a three-game series against the Texas Rangers. The Rangers have won nine of their past 11 games to wrest the second wild-card playoff spot from the Los Angeles Angels heading into play on Monday. Following an impressive three-game sweep over the Angels on the weekend, the Blue Jays face Texas with at least a share of top spot in the American League East with the New York Yankees. Toronto's bats could not be hotter after scorching the Angels for 36 runs, the most in franchise history for a three-game series. Toronto finished the series hitting .393 (48-for-122) with a .436 on-base percentage. While the Blue Jays are by far the highest-scoring team in the majors with 670 runs scored, the Rangers are no slouches. Texas ranks No. 5 on that list, with 548 runs. A couple of lefties will take the mound for the series-opener – Derek Holland of the Rangers facing Mark Buehrle. Wednesday's game should be a pitching delight, with Toronto ace David Price facing Colby Lewis who, with 14 wins, is tied with Houston's Dallas Keuchel and Seattle's Felix Hernandez for the most this season.
