Blue Jays place Yunel Escobar on paternity list Add to ...

The Toronto Blue Jays have placed shortstop Yunel Escobar on the paternity list and called up right-handed pitcher Chad Beck from Triple-A Las Vegas.

The move was announced Wednesday prior to Toronto’s game against the Detroit Tigers.

Escobar can miss a maximum of three days and must be reinstated from the paternity list prior to Saturday’s game in Baltimore at the latest.

Beck appeared in seven games for Toronto this season posting a 5.87 ERA without a decision. He made 39 relief appearances for Las Vegas this season, posting a 2-0 record with 15 saves and a 1.49 ERA.
