Toronto Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos

General manager Alex Anthopoulos continues to stockpile bullpen arms. On Tuesday night, the Toronto Blue Jays reportedly signed right-hander reliever Francisco Cordero.

The deal, first reported by Fox Sports, is a one-year pact worth $4.5-million (U.S.).

The Blue Jays had not confirmed the signing, although Anthopoulos said earlier Tuesday he was still exploring ways in which he could strengthen the bullpen.

The deal, however, was confirmed by Cordero's representatives at Reynolds Sports Management.

Cordero, 36, saved 37 games for the Cincinnati Reds in 2011, with a 2.45 earned-run average – reaching the 30-save plateau for the fifth consecutive season.

It is anticipated Cordero will set up for closer Sergio Santos, who Toronto obtained in a trade from the Chicago White Sox last December.
