Felix Doubront pitched into the seventh inning in his first start of the season and Josh Donaldson homered to lead the Toronto Blue Jays to a 2-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night.

Doubront (1-0) allowed just one run and six hits in 6 2/3 innings. It was his first start in the majors since last Sept. 20 when he pitched for the Chicago Cubs against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Roberto Osuna got the last three outs for his fourth save.

Donaldson led off the fourth inning with his 21st homer to break a 1-1 tie. He homered for the second straight game and has six in five games against the White Sox this season.

Jose Quintana (4-8) lost despite allowing just two runs and four hits in eight innings. He struck out eight —including five straight during the fourth and fifth innings — and retired 10 straight batters in one stretch.

It was Quintana's eighth straight start allowing three runs or fewer while pitching at least six innings, but he is just 2-3 during that stretch.

Toronto shortstop Jose Reyes manufactured a run in the first inning to put the Blue Jays on top. He led off with a single, stole second, went to third on a ground out and scored on another ground out by Jose Bautista.

The White Sox tied the score in the second inning. Gordon Beckham doubled with two out and Carlos Sanchez drove him in with a single to left field.

TRAINER'S ROOM

Blue Jays: RHP Aaron Sanchez (lat strain) threw two innings in the Florida Gulf Coast League on Tuesday. "He gave up a couple of runs," manager John Gibbons said. "He felt good." Sanchez has been out since June 5 and the plan is for him to make a few more appearances and built to a starter's workload.

White Sox: RHP Matt Albers (right pinky finger) threw an inning of scoreless relief Monday during a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte. Albers suffered the fracture during Chicago's April 23 brawl with Kansas City.

UP NEXT

Blue Jays: RHP Drew Hutchison (8-2, 5.23 ERA) looks to bounce back from a poor outing (five runs and 10 hits in 4 2/3 innings) last Friday at Detroit.

White Sox: LHP John Danks (4-8, 4.95) snapped a four-game losing streak in his last outing with seven shutout innings against Baltimore.
