More than a month since the story first broke, the Toronto Blue Jays have finally confirmed the signing of Cuban shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria

Hechavarria, who will turn 21 on Thursday, has agreed to a four-year, $10-million deal.

Being touted as the Blue Jays shortstop of the future, Hechavarria spent last season in the Cuban League, posting a posting a .262 average with six doubles, two triples and one home run.

Hechavarria is expected to attend extended sprint training in Florida for the Blue Jays before being assigned to one of team's minor league affiliates.
