The Toronto Blue Jays outrighted catcher Mike Nickeas and left-hander Ricky Romero to triple-A Buffalo on Friday.

Both players were called up to the major-league team in early September for the last few weeks of the regular season. Toronto (74-88) missed the playoffs after finishing last in the American League East division.

Romero went 0-2 with an 11.05 earned-run average in four appearances with the Blue Jays this year. He had a 5-8 record and 5.78 ERA in 22 appearances with Buffalo.

Nickeas appeared in just one game with Toronto and did not record an at-bat. The Vancouver native had a .166 average in 58 games with the Bisons.
