Don Matthews has been variously known as bombastic, petulant, brash, charismatic and a staggeringly successful CFL coach. But the septuagenarian has morphed into something new – a mellow sentimentalist, who loves dogs and his young family.

Don Matthews smiles at a news conference Monday in Toronto where he was named new coach for the CFL's Toronto Argonauts. Matthews is a former 1990 Argos coach and defending Grey Cup champion coach with the former Baltimore Stallions.
