Winnipeg Blue Bombers Will FordChris Young/The Canadian Press

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have parted ways with tailback Will Ford.

Ford spent the past two seasons with the Blue Bombers, rushing for 594 yards on 113 carries last season which earned him a 2013 East Division All-Star honour.

Through two seasons, he has rushed for 727 yards and five touchdowns.

Ford was also a force on special teams last year with two kickoff returns for a touchdown, only the seventh player in CFL history to return a pair of kickoffs for touchdowns in the same season. He was Winnipeg's nominee for Most Outstanding Special Teams Player.

A hamstring injury during training camp allowed others to step up and fill the void left by Ford, most notably Nic Grigsby who has carried the ball 41 times for 218 yards and a league leading three rushing touchdowns in three games this season.

Running back Paris Cotton is also back in the lineup after suffering a knee injury in a pre-season game. He returned six kicks for 157 yards in Winnipeg's 34-33 win in Montreal on Friday.
