Apparently, you can only do so much whining. Case in point: Winnipeg Blue Bombers' backup receiver Terence-Jeffers Harris.
The talented but unhappy import was released Thursday just days before the Blue Bombers host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the CFL's East Division final.
Rarely do CFL teams release veterans at this late stage in the season. The Blue Bombers could beat Hamilton and have an injury at receiver. Harris might have found himself starting in the Grey Cup. Given the tone of the Blue Bombers' news release, though, it was more important for Winnipeg to send Harris packing than to keep him around.
"It became evident throughout the course of the season that T.J. was struggling with his position with the team," Blue Bombers' general manager General Manager Joe Mack said in a statement. "With our club preparing for this crucial game Sunday, it became clearer that he was having difficulty coming to terms with the challenges of limited playing time, therefore, this difficult decision was made today. Although regrettable, we feel that this was in the best interest of both the organization and T.J. Harris, and thank him for his efforts put forth throughout the past two seasons."
Harris had spent two seasons with Winnipeg. He had 77 catches for 894 yards and six touchdowns.
