Eskimos bring back free agent DL Rashad Jeanty Add to ...

Defensive lineman Rashad Jeanty is returning to the Edmonton Eskimos.

The 28-year-old spent three seasons with Edmonton before leaving for the NFL after winning his second Grey Cup with the CFL team in 2005.

“It's great to welcome Rashad back to the Eskimos,” general manager Eric Tillman said Monday in a release. “He left as a champion after the 2005 Grey Cup and he's eager to help us return to that elite level.

“In our conversations we talked about how much winning two championships in Edmonton meant to him, and about his deep gratitude to (assistant GM) Paul Jones who brought him to the CFL as a 19-year-old kid back in 2003.”

Jeanty posted eight sacks in the 2005 season. The Miami native spent four seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals and led the team with 14 special-teams tackles in 2009.

However, Jeanty broke his leg on the opening kickoff of the AFC wild-card game against the New York Jets and missed the entire 2010 season.

Jeanty later signed with the Philadelphia Eagles but was released prior to the start of the 2011 season.
