The Edmonton Eskimos signed free agent Prechae Rodriguez on Friday as cover for its depleted receiver corps.

The Eskimos lost Jason Barnes to fractured ribs and Marcus Henry to concussion in Thursday's game against the Montreal Alouettes. Adarius Bowman is also out with a rib injury and Fred Stamps is gone with an abdominal injury.

Edmonton General Manager Eric Tillman said in a statement the team would probably be without all four receivers for its upcoming game against the B.C. Lions.

"We're pleased to bring an experienced player like Prechae in," Tillman said. "Injuries are part of the football business, of course, and we will expect the new group to step up and play well."

Rodriguez appeared in one game this season after being signed by Montreal in January 2011, but was released in late July.

Rodriguez spent the 2008-09 seasons in Hamilton and in his rookie year he led all Tiger-Cat receivers with 70 receptions for 1,099 and seven touchdowns in 14 games. He was named the CFL East Division's Most Outstanding Rookie.

He was traded to Saskatchewan in February 2010 and played in 10 games for the Roughriders last year.
