The Hamilton Tiger-Cats released veteran receiver Dave Stala on Tuesday.

Stala, 34, spent five seasons with Hamilton after signing with his hometown team as a free agent in 2009. Stala had 10 catches for 144 yards in 14 games in 2013.

Stala, a native of Myslenice, Poland, who grew up in Hamilton, registered 263 catches for 3,336 yards and 20 TDs in 86 regular-season games with the Ticats. The six-foot-two, 198-pound former St. Mary's star began his CFL career with Montreal in 2003.

"Dave was a respected member of this team for five seasons," Ticats coach/GM Kent Austin said in a statement. "On behalf of the Tiger-Cats organization, I'd like to thank Dave for his efforts on and off of the field and wish him all the best in the future."
