Leading the Calgary Stampeders to victory last week earned tailback Jon Cornish two of the CFL's weekly awards Tuesday.

Cornish was named the CFL's offensive and Canadian player of the week after rushing for 170 yards and a TD in Calgary's 31-20 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. The native of New Westminster, B.C., also added six catches for 47 yards.

Teammate Larry Taylor received special-team honours. Taylor registered 172 total return yards against Hamilton, including 84 yards on four kickoffs and 88 yards on eight punt returns.

Edmonton linebacker J.C Sherritt was named the top defensive player for the third time this season. He had seven tackles and an interception in the Eskimos' 28-20 win over Saskatchewan.
