Justin Goltz will be the starting quarterback Sunday when the Winnipeg Blue Bombers face the Saskatchewan Roughriders in Regina, coach Tim Burke confirmed Friday.
"He's taken most of the reps this week, that's the main reason," said Burke.
Buck Pierce is out with an unspecified injury and Max Hall has been nursing an injured hand, although he has been throwing well in practice.
"I don't think Max is 100 per cent yet," said Burke.
"I'm hoping by game time his hand will be 100 per cent so that if something were to happen he could go in."
Goltz, meanwhile, says with a new offensive co-ordinator and a new offence to learn, he hasn't had a lot of time to worry about the always hostile atmosphere in Regina.
But Goltz says new offensive co-ordinator Marcel Bellefeuille has helped simplify his playbook so the Winnipeg offence can pick things up quickly.
"We're halfway through the season, so we better be ready to catch on fast," said Goltz.
The Winnipeg offence has struggled this season and hasn't been able to find its feet behind any of its three quarterbacks. The Bombers have only managed to score a league-worst 167 points.
With their injury record, the 1-7 Bombers have now added a fourth quarterback to the mix, former Hamilton Tiger-Cats backup Jason Boltus.
