Running back Wayne Moore rushed for 146 yards and a touchdown to lead the McMaster Marauders to a 24-12 victory over the Mount Allison Mounties on Saturday in the Mitchell Bowl, the semifinal for the Canadian university football championship.

McMaster will play the Montreal Carabins in the Vanier Cup on Nov. 29. The Carabins slipped by the Manitoba Bison 29-26 in the Uteck Bowl earlier Saturday. The Vanier Cup will be held in Montreal.

QB Marshall Ferguson completed 18-of-32 pass attempts for 154 yards and an interception for McMaster.

Quarterback Brandon Leyh completed 15-of-33 pass attempts for 186 yards with one TD and one interception for Mount Allison. Aside from a strong second quarter, the Mounties offensive line was porous, allowing Leyh to be sacked nine times for a loss of 63 yards.

Moore's heroics were set up by an unfortunate injury to teammate Chris Pezzetta.

Pezzetta ran the ball on McMaster's first offensive play of the game, gaining three yards. He stayed on the ground after being tackled, clutching his surgically repaired left knee. He walked off the field under his own power after trainers came to his aid but did not return to the game.
