Saskatchewan lost defensive back Leron Mitchell to a broken leg in the first quarter of the 98th Grey Cup.

Mitchell was injured when Montreal running back Avon Cobourne rolled over his left ankle after being tackled by Saskatchewan's Barrin Simpson.

Mitchell's left foot seemed to flop unnaturally from his ankle as he fell to the ground.

The native of London, Ont., was attended to on the field for several minutes before being driven to the Roughriders' dressing room.

He was then sent to hospital for further examination.

Mitchell, a former Western Mustang, missed 14 months recovering from a broken leg suffered July 4, 2008 against the B.C.
