MONTREAL ALOUETTES (6-5) AT EDMONTON ESKIMOS (7-4)

Friday, 9 p.m.

Considerable jockeying is at stake here. An Edmonton victory would give the Eskimos a firmer grip on the top spot in the West Division, while Montreal stands to gain precious ground on first-place Winnipeg in the East and stay above Hamilton. The Esks are healthy and confident after thumping the Ticats last week, and appear primed to put together a win streak. The Als are coming off a mistake-plagued effort against the Blue Bombers and are dealing with a short practice week. Quarterback Anthony Calvillo has often shown amazing bounce-back ability, and the Als will have to get the ball to running back Brandon Whitaker if they have a shot.

The Pick Edmonton

B.C. LIONS (5-6) AT SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDERS (4-7)

Saturday, 4 p.m.

The Riders are a banged up bunch with running back Wes Cates and defensive lineman Keith Shologan listed as probable. Jason Clermont subs in for hobbled receiver Andy Fantuz. Quarterback Darian Durant will play but he's nursing bruised ribs. The good news for Saskatchewan is slotback Chris Getzlaf is healthy (he's averaging 20.2 yards per catch and has scored eight touchdowns). The Lions have won five of their last six and are playing punishing defence as of late.

The Pick B.C.

WINNIPEG BLUE BOMBERS (8-3) AT TORONTO ARGONAUTS (2-9)

Saturday, 7 p.m.

Quarterback Buck Pierce is coming off a performance that earned him CFL offensive player of the week honours and gave Winnipeg its first win in Montreal in three years. The self-assured Bombers will no doubt show Argos quarterback Steven Jyles much of the same pressure defence that troubled Anthony Calvillo last week. Winnipeg knows Jyles well, as he got on the field for 14 games there in 2010. Toronto is still finding its way with Jyles in just his third game as the Argos starter, and topping first-place Winnipeg seems a tall order. They will need touchdowns – not just field goals from ever-dependable kicker Noel Prefontaine – to survive this one.

The Pick Winnipeg

CALGARY STAMPEDERS (7-4) VS. HAMILTON TIGER-CATS (5-6)

Sunday, 1 p.m.

The Stamps should be favoured in Moncton, the site of Touchdown Atlantic, because they haven't lost a road game all season. The offensive line has to show some dominance while the punt/kick-return game will be missing speedster Larry Taylor (ribs). The Ticats need to upgrade their play, too. In their last two outings – both losses – they've been drubbed by a combined score of 81-36. Centre Marwan Hage may sit this one out with an injury.
