More than 300 players are set to take part in PGA Tour Canada's qualifying school next month in California.

Two-time Canadian Amateur champion Mackenzie Hughes and 2010 British Amateur champion Jin Jeong are among the 312 entries registered for the April 7-12 event at Morongo Golf Club in Beaumont, California. That not only represents the maximum field size but it's also the largest q-school field in Canadian golf history. In 2000, a total of 242 players took part in the Canadian Tour's Spring Qualifying School.

"We look forward to a highly competitive tournament that will see some excellent players qualify for the Tour," said PGA Tour Canada president Jeff Monday.

Only the top 20 will earn full status for the inaugural 2013 season on PGA Tour Canada. The next 20 and ties will earn conditional status.

The 2013 PGA Tour Canada season kicks off June 6 in Victoria at the Times Colonist Island Savings Open.
