Golf ball on putting green

Andrew Parr carded a final round 73 on Thursday and missed earning his 2012 European Tour card by two strokes.

Starting on the back nine of the Stadium course at the PGA Catalunya Resort in Spain, the London, Ont., golfer got off to a shaky start with back-to-back bogeys on Nos. 13 and 14. A birdie on the 15th - which he had eagled twice earlier in the week - left him at 1-over par at the turn.

After a bogey and a birdie over his first three holes, Parr came down the stretch needed a pair of birdies to get him to seven under par, which was the cut off for the top 30 and ties. He picked up a birdie on the par-3 eighth but stumbled to a bogey on the final hole to leave him two shots shy of his goal.

Over the course of the six days, Parr struggled on the Stadium course - considered the toughest of the two courses used this past week - playing four rounds in 2-over par. The eighth and ninth holes especially proved to be his downfall as he played them in a combined 6-over par over the course of the week.

Parr was looking to become the first Canadian since Scott Rowe in 1999 to play full-time on the European Tour. His tie for 41st gives him conditional status for 2012 as well as full-time status on the Challenge Tour, a circuit equivalent to the Nationwide Tour.

Englishman David Dixon birdied the 16th hole for the winning margin as he took medallist honours at 21-under par over Sam Hutsby, who led four of the six rounds throughout the week.
