Shaw Communications Inc. announced Monday  it has solidified broadcast rights for PGA Tour events through 2018.

The new agreement makes Global TV the home of the most comprehensive golf coverage in Canada including THE PLAYERS Championship, the Masters, the RBC Canadian Open and the four FedEx Cup playoff tournaments.

In addition, Global's broadcast of international golf will get a significant boost with weekend coverage of the 2015 and 2017 Presidents Cup; a biennial international match-play event featuring the world's best non-European players competing against top-ranked players from the United States.

As part of its broadcast schedule, Global will also air a weekly 30-minute program featuring highlights and player interviews from PGA Tour Canada events across the country.

"Canadian golf fans have always demonstrated a strong appetite for PGA Tour golf and this partnership allows those fans to enjoy our product on a consistent platform for the next five years," said PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem. "The PGA TOUR is committed to golf in Canada and we are delighted to have Shaw as our partner."

Shaw, the PGA Tour and Golf Canada also announced that Shaw Business will become a Premier sponsor of the RBC Canadian Open through 2017. That deal includes Global producing and airing a special 60-minute pre-game show ahead of weekend coverage, featuring exclusive player interviews and highlights to ensure golf fans won't miss any of the action.

"On behalf of Golf Canada, RBC and everyone involved with the RBC Canadian Open, we are thrilled to have Shaw Business align their brand with Canada's National Open Championship," said Scott Simmons, CEO of Golf Canada. "Together with Global TV and the PGA Tour, we look forward to working in partnership over the next five years to elevate the profile of the RBC Canadian Open to millions of Canadian golf fans from coast to coast."
