Mark Silvers defeated fellow American Matt Harmon in a playoff to win the Cape Breton Celtic Classic for his first PGA Tour Canada victory.

Silvers, who started the day three shots back of the co-leaders, carded a bogey-free final round 66 which included a tricky six-footer for par on the final hole to force a playoff at 15-under par. The victory moved Silvers to No. 10 on the season ending money list with one event to go, securing his PGA Tour status for next year and boosting his hopes of gettng onto the Web.com Tour.

"Coming into the end of the year, I wasn't going to have Web.com Tour status for next year and had I not played well, I wouldn't have had PGA Tour Canada status for next year," said Silvers, the second straight player to come from behind and win this season. "To now have a chance to skip some stages and definitely have status up here for next year is so big."

Silvers is the third player to win Big Break, the golf channel reality series, and win on PGA Tour Canada, joining Brian Kontak and Derek Gillespie.

Harmon's second place check vaulted him over Brock Mackenzie into third on the Order of Merit, within $817 of No. 2 Tim Madigan with one event to go. Harmon, Madigan and Mackenzie are all within striking distance of leader Joel Dahmen's $79,687 total should they be able to win the TOUR Championship of Canada presented by Freedom 55 Financial next week.

Seann Harlingten (70) of West Vancouver and Beon-Yeong Lee (65) of Montreal and American Daniel McCarthy 973) all finished in a tie for third, two-shots out of a playoff.

Michael Gligic of Burlington, Ont. finished in a tie for sixth at 12-under par.

Next week's TOUR Championship is the final chance for players to earn status on the Web.com Tour for next season. Gligic, the highest ranked Canadian on the money list, needs to finish solo fourth to move into the top five.
