Michael Putnam

LEON, Mexico - Michael Putnam won the Mexico Championship on Sunday for his second career Web.com Tour title, closing with a 6-under 66 for a two-stroke victory.

Putnam finished with a 13-under 275 total at El Bosque Country Club and earned $126,000 to jump from 11th to first on the money list with $246,234. The 29-year-old former Pepperdine player also won the 2010 Utah Championship.

Wes Roach, Alex Prugh and South Korea's Whee Kim tied for second. Roach had a 70, and Prugh and Kim shot 72.

Adam Hadwin of Abbotsford, B.C., finished in a tie for 54th after a round of 74. He played his opening nine holes in 6-over par before turning around a playing his final nine in four under.

Hadwin was the only Canadian to make the cut. Matt Hill of Sarnia, Ont., Richard Scott of Kingsville, Ont., and Roger Sloan of Merritt, B.C. all failed to advance to weekend play.
