The 2014 PGA Tour Canada season will kick off a new event in Vancouver at the end of May.

A year after it came up short in finalizing plans for a Vancouver stop, the PC Financial Open at Point Grey Golf and Country Club became a reality on Wednesday.

"We're thrilled to be adding a PGA Tour Canada event in Vancouver," said Tour President Jeff Monday. "Sports fans in Vancouver will have the opportunity to watch some great golf as our players compete on the superb Point Grey golf course as they begin their quest to be one of The Five that earn Web.com Tour status."

The Canadian Tour, the precursor to PGA Tour Canada, last staged an event in the Vancouver area in 2009 when the City of Surrey Invitational was held at Hazelmere.

The 6,801-yard Point Grey Golf and Country Club has previously played host to several major events including the RBC Canadian Open and Canadian Pacific Women's Open.

After staging a total of nine events in it's inaugural season in 2013, PGA Tour Canada will expand to at least 12 tournaments next year with stops in Ottawa and Thunder Bay joining Vancouver as the new additions.

The full 2014 PGA Tour Canada schedule will be announced at a future date.
