The St. Louis Blues claimed Taylor Chorney off waivers from the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday and placed fellow defenceman Carlo Colaiacovo on injured reserve.

The team says Colaiacovo suffered an upper body injury in the second period of the Blues' season opener Saturday against Nashville.

Colaiacovo will be eligible to return to the lineup Sunday when the Blues visit Anaheim.

Chorney, 24, had one goal and four assists in 12 games with Edmonton last season and added 16 points (three goals, 13 assists) in 46 games with Oklahoma City of the American Hockey League.
