The Calgary Flames activated centre Mikael Backlund and defenceman Ladislav Smid from injured reserve Wednesday and assigned forward Markus Granlund and defenceman Corey Potter to the Adirondack Flames of the American Hockey League.
Backlund, who has four points (1-3) in 11 games this season, was out with an abdominal injury. Smid, who has one assist in 28 games, was out with an upper-body injury.
Granlund, meanwhile, has 13 points (5-8) in 29 games while Potter did not see any game action with the Flames.
