The San Jose Sharks have acquired goalie Evgeni Nabokov from the Tampa Bay Lightning for future considerations.

Nabokov is expected to retire as a Shark at a news conference on Wednesday.

Drafted in 1994 by San Jose, the 39-year-old Nabokov is the Sharks franchise leader in games played for a goalie with 563, wins with 154 and shutouts with 50.

San Jose allowed Nabokov to leave as a free agent following the 2009-10 season.
