The Calgary Flames have asked Robyn Regehr to waive his no-trade clause, in the hopes of moving him and his $4-million contract to the Buffalo Sabres. However, according to sources familiar with the proposal, Regehr still hasn't signed off on the deal, which came out of "left field" - and needs to talk it over with his family before committing one way or the other.

Regehr was linked to possible deals with the Ottawa Senators and the Boston Bruins at last year's draft, and neither went through. Over the course of the season, the Anaheim Ducks and San Jose Sharks also made inquiries about Regehr's availability.

Regehr is an established stay-at-home defenceman that would help stabilize a young Buffalo Sabres' blueline featuring Tyler Myers, a former Calder Trophy winner. The Sabres have a surplus of promising young forwards that could go Calgary's way in return.
