Adam Proteau: Eskimos and igloos

Globe and Mail Blog Post

ADAM PROTEAU
The Hockey News

The Nashville Predators have been involved in major news – mostly of the horrible variety, at least for their fans – lately, and now one of their most infamous members is making headlines in the world of celebrity gossip.

According to the august US Magazine, Tootoo has been getting his date on with former American Idol contestant and world-class ditz Kellie Pickler.

Tootoo and Pickler, a native North Carolinian who made herself famous with the help of profundities such as “I have fake eye lashes on and they feel like tarantulas – but they’re not real tarantulas,” and “What’s calamari?”, have been an item since January.

“I am this country bumpkin and (Tootoo is) an Eskimo,” said Pickler, who plans to visit Tootoo’s northern Canadian home in Rankin Inlet, Nunavut this summer. “I’m going to build an igloo!”

Yup, that’s what she said. Eskimos and igloos. Oh, to be a fly on the wall when these two get together for deep debate.
