It seems there is no end to the incivility of the 2011 Stanley Cup final between the Vancouver Canucks and Boston Bruins.
The series took sportsmanship to new lows, and just when you thought that both teams -- and their fan bases -- had moved on to focus on the upcoming season, comes a story about sore losers, bad winners, and the “Sexiest Man Alive.”
Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds, whose arm candy brigade has included Alanis Morissette, Scarlett Johansson, and Sandra Bullock (the current), was recently dining at a Beantown hotspot when the Canucks fan came face-to-face with a table of Bruins (22 of them when entourages were factored in).
According to the Boston Herald story, Reynolds directed a few words towards the B’s table in defence of his hometown Canucks, perhaps a gentle inquiry into Nathan Horton’s condition, perhaps a goaltending pointer or two for Tim Thomas.
The repartee was such that Reynolds felt compelled to send 22 tequila shots to the black and yellow table, presumably to ease tension in a celebrity-to-celebrities, love-your-work kind of way.
The Bruins refused the shots, and redirected them to a table where a bachelorette party was taking place. Smooth move, but we doubt that RR needs the help.
