Some odds and ends from Maple Leafs training camp on Monday:

Rookie netminder Jonas Gustavsson returned to the ice for a 30-minute session with goaltending consultant Francois Allaire on Monday. Gustavsson, 24, underwent a procedure to correct an electrical problem with his heart last Tuesday. The Swedish goalie expects to participate in a full practice on Tuesday and is hopeful that he will see some game action this weekend … D Jeff Finger (strained oblique) and Jason Allison (sick) were excused from practice on Monday. Finger is expected to be off the ice for three days to recover from his injury that occurred in Pittsburgh on Friday evening and kept him from playing in the third period. Allison should be back on Tuesday. He was promised three preseason games in his comeback bid … D Mike Van Ryn will not play against the Penguins at home on Tuesday, but Wilson was hopeful that Van Ryn, who is recovering from a left knee injury, will be available to play in Buffalo on Wednesday. Van Ryn did participate in his first scrimmage action on Monday … G Vesa Toskala will play the entire final preseason game on Sunday against Buffalo … The Leafs are down to 34 players in training camp after placing on waivers Alex Foster, Ben Ondrus, Ryan Hamilton and Andre Deveaux for the purpose of sending them down to the Toronto Marlies of the AHL.… The Marlies take off for Scotland on Tuesday for a week to play in three exhibition games. They return in time for their final preseason game against the Hamilton Bulldogs at the General Motors Centre on Sept. 30.
