Plymouth Whalers goalie Scott Wedgewood will start Wednesday when Canada faces the Czech Republic at the world junior hockey championship.

Mark Visentin of the Niagara IceDogs was in goal for Canada's tournament opener Monday against Finland. The Phoenix Coyotes prospect stopped 24 shots in an 8-1 win.

Canadian head coach Don Hay had said he wanted to play both of his goalies during the tournament.

Visentin was Canada's starter for the medal round of last year's event in Buffalo, N.Y.

Wedgewood, a New Jersey Devils prospect, made the Canadian team with a strong selection camp.

Canada faces Denmark on Thursday and concludes the preliminary round Saturday against the United States.
