Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Jonas Gustavsson underwent a second surgery on his heart at a Toronto hospital on Friday. The NHL club descibed the surgery as successful.

"The doctors are confident they got it," said coach Ron Wilson.

Gustavsson will need one week to 10 days to recover. In a procedure called an ablation, a wire was inserted through the groin to the heart in order to coterize an area than had been the source of an elevated heart rate.

Gustavsson had two episodes of elevated heart rates after his first ablation in late September. When he experienced the second episode earlier this week it was decided a second ablation was necessary.
