The Washington Capitals put some important support players for their massive rebuild in place at or just before the 2004 NHL trading deadline. A look at some of their more important transactions:
Jan. 23: Anson Carter acquired from New York for Jaromir Jagr.
Feb. 18: Brooks Laich plus a second-rounder (later traded to Colorado) acquired from Ottawa for Peter Bondra.
Feb. 27: Tomas Fleischmann and a first-rounder (Mike Green) acquired from Detroit for Robert Lang.
March 3: Shaone Morrisonn and a first-rounder (Jeff Schultz) acquired from Boston for Sergei Gonchar.
