Flames prospect Josh Jooris scored twice to lead Calgary to a 6-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Sunday night at the Bell Centre.
Markus Granlund, Curtis Glencross, Lance Bouma, and Mark Giordano also found the back of the net for Calgary (7-2-4), while Jonas Hiller stopped 18-of-20 shots.
Max Pacioretty and Rene Bourque scored for Montreal (8-3-1). Carey Price made 30 saves in defeat.
The Flames started their five-game road trip on the right foot, as Bob Hartley's men play four more times away from the Scotiabank Saddledome before heading back home on Nov. 13.
Calgary also got revenge for a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of the Canadiens last Tuesday after Montreal's Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau scored the winner in a shootout. Montreal went 1-1-1 on their three-game Western road trip, scoring just three times.
The loss halted Montreal's unbeaten run at home. Previously 4-0-0 at the Bell Centre this season, the Habs were looking to match their best start at home since 1979.
The Flames came into this one with just five first-period goals in their first 12 games, but they managed to put two past Price in the opening 20 minutes on Sunday.
Jooris scored his second of the season at 4:58 after gobbling up a juicy rebound in front of the net and patiently waiting out Price to make it 1-0. Johnny Gaudreau was rewarded for an outstanding first period with an assist on the goal.
The Canadiens, who were outshot 19-4 in the first period, have now conceded the opening goal 10 times in the team's first 12 games.
Gaudreau also added an assist on Calgary's second goal of the evening in the final minute of the first. The 21-year-old fed Jiri Hudler, whose shot deflected off Granlund's skate and in past Price. Gaudreau now has eight points in his last seven games since being a healthy scratch versus the Columbus Blue Jackets on Oct. 17.
Glencross made it 3-0 for the Flames late in the second period when the Kindersley, Sask. native skillfully redirected an off-target shot from TJ Brodie.
Pacioretty got one back for the Canadiens 37 seconds into the third period. Montreal's co-leader in goals and points gingerly walked out from behind Calgary's net and used Brodie as a screen to beat Hiller from a tight angle.
Montreal has a tendency of leaving things late, as Michel Therrien's men have now scored 14 of their 27 goals in the third period.
But there was no comeback in store for the Canadiens, as Jooris sealed the deal with his second of the night on a breakaway on the power play at 8:48 before Bouma made it 5-1 just two minutes later.
Bourque added a consolation goal at 13:18 before Giordano scored in an empty net.
Notes: Brendan Gallagher and Alex Galchenyuk finished minus-3 on the night. Jiri Sekac, Michael Bournival and Jarrod Tinordi were left out of the lineup for the Canadiens. Sekac hasn't dressed since Oct. 18 against Colorado, while Borunival has yet to make his season debut. With Calgary's Joe Colborne out of the lineup with a wrist injury, 22-year-old winger Sven Baertschi got the start on the fourth line. Prior to the game, Price was awarded the Molson Cup for his stellar play in October.
