Erik Karlsson scored twice and added an assist as the Ottawa Senators shut out the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-0 Thursday night.

Craig Anderson stopped 25 shots for his seventh win of the season and 30th career shutout. Kyle Turris scored an empty-net goal to round out the scoring.

The win marked just the second time this season the Senators (9-5-5) won in regulation on home ice, but it came at a cost.

Ottawa lost Bobby Ryan late in the third after being hit by David Savard and Patrick Wiercioch left early in the second after taking a hit from Nick Foligno.

Curtis McElhinney, who briefly played for the Senators in 2010-11, made 26 saves.

The loss snapped the Blue Jackets' (7-13-0) three-game winning streak.

The Senators made it 3-0 early in the third on a goal by Mika Zibanejad, but Columbus used the coach's challenge and the goal was called back after it was ruled Mark Borowiecki pushed Fedor Tyutin into McElhinney, which impeded the goaltender from playing his position. The 16,925 on hand at Canadian Tire Centre were not impressed with the call.

Ottawa outshot the Blue Jackets 11-6 in the second period and held a 2-0 lead after 40 minutes.

Karlsson opened the scoring at 16:24 of the second. Jean-Gabriel Pageau's shot hit the post and Karlsson buried the rebound. It marked just the second time this season that the Senators opened the scoring on home ice.

The Senators made it 2-0 less than two minutes later as Karlsson scored his second of the night as Ryan created the perfect screen. Ryan now has points in seven straight games (3G, 5A).

Despite remaining scoreless, the first period wasn't without its highlights as Curtis Lazar had his first NHL fight when he took on Boone Jenner. Ottawa's Mike Hoffman was given a penalty shot after being dragged down, but McElhinney stopped him easily. The Blue Jackets had a number of good chances early on, but were unable to beat Anderson.

Notes: D Jared Cowen and LW Shane Prince were healthy scratches for the Senators. C Michael Chaput and D Dalton Prout were healthy scratches for the Blue Jackets.
