James Reimer's mysterious injury issues have returned.

The Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender will miss his scheduled start Tuesday night against the Carolina Hurricanes with what the team announced as an upper-body injury.

Reimer had battled head, neck and concussion-like symptoms earlier in the year and missed 18 games until returning in early December.

The cause of his latest injury is unknown, however, and it's not yet known if it is connected to his previous head injury. Reimer took part in the Leafs morning skate on Tuesday and spoke at length with reporters and teammates afterward about starting later that night.

The Leafs have recalled Jussi Rynnas on an emergency basis from the minors, but Jonas Gustavsson is expected to start against the Hurricanes.
