Ron Wilson may have the contract extension he wants, judging by a tweet he issued late Friday night.

The Toronto Maple Leafs head coach, who is in the last year of his contract, posted the following on Twitter: "This Xmas could be better if Santa stuffs a certain piece of paper in my stocking. #whatcouldthatbe"

It was an obvious reference to a contract extension, one Leafs general manager Brian Burke has said will be done when the time is right.

The Leafs won their second consecutive game Friday night, 5-3 over the New York Islanders, to go into the Christmas break on a high note. Up to the back-to-back wins on Thursday and Friday, the Leafs were sliding.

Burke could not be immediately reached for comment.

However, it is also possible Wilson, who has a fractious relationship with the media, was pulling everyone's chain a day before Christmas.

The tweet was made as the Leafs, including Burke and Wilson, were on their charter flight home from New York after the Islander game.
