Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand will have a phone hearing with the NHL on Thursday, according to the Boston Globe.

The hearing is likely related to Marchand's elbow to the head of Columbus forward R.J. Umberger during the second period of Tuesday night's game. No penalty was called on the play.

"I saw the hit this morning," Umberger told the Columbus Dispatch. "I felt like he led with the elbow. There are certain ways to play out there. Obviously I didn't have control of the puck. It was free. He could have come and got it. He didn't need to go at my head.

"It didn't result in an injury, but it sure could have."

Since Thursday's hearing will be by phone, Marchand can expect no more than a five game suspension if he's disciplined.
