The NHL said Tuesday it will not review a hard hit on Winnipeg Jets' defenceman Tobias Enstrom last night by the Panthers' Jack Skille. The check came during the second period of the game which the Jets won 4-3 in a shootout.
Enstrom was heading for a loose puck in the Panther zone in a slouched position. He didn't see Skille, who skated beside him, lowered his shoulder and bashed into the side of Enstrom's head. The impact sent Enstrom flying and he landed hard with his head hitting the ice. Enstrom left the game and did not return. Afterward Jets coach Claude Noel said he wasn't sure of Enstrom's condition or when he will play next. Skille was not given a penalty on the play. But he faced the wrath of Jets Dustin Byfuglien and Andrew Ladd who fought him.
Enstrom is a key player for the Jets and regularly logs the most ice time of any player on the team.
