The Edmonton Oilers have assigned struggling Swedish winger Magnus Paajarvi to their American Hockey League affiliate.

The 20-year-old has just three assists in 25 games in his second season with Edmonton.

It's a steep reduction from his rookie campaign when Paajarvi played 80 games, scoring 15 goals and adding 19 assists.

The club announced the move Friday, with Paajarvi set to report to the Oklahoma City Barons. Paajarvi was selected by the Oilers with the 10th overall pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
