Edmonton Oilers centre Anton Lander will be out for at least a month after suffering a broken foot.
An MRI confirmed the injury, which occurred during Wednesday night’s 3-2 overtime loss against the Dallas Stars when the 21-year-old Lander blocked a shot.
“He broke his foot,” Oilers coach Ralph Krueger said. “That’s a minimum of four weeks.”
The Oilers already were hurting at the centre position. Shawn Horcoff has a broken knuckle and Eric Belanger is out with a broken toe. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has dealt with a sore shoulder but is expected back Saturday when Edmonton plays the Detroit Red Wings after missing Wednesday’s game against the Stars.
Lander has no goals and one assist in four games this season.
