The Edmonton Oilers have signed left-winger Lennart Petrell to a one-year contract extension.

The 28-year-old from Helsinki had four goals, five assists and 45 penalty minutes in 60 games for the Oilers last season.

He also had two goals and two assists in nine games with the AHL's Oklahoma City Barons.

Petrell, six foot three and 198 pounds, scored his first NHL goal Nov. 2 after signing with the club as a free agent last summer.

He was originally drafted 190th overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2004, but remained in Finland and played with HIFK Helsinki.
