The Ottawa Senators will reach back into their distant past when they take to the ice against the Vancouver Canucks for the 2014 NHL Heritage Classic.

The Senators will take to the ice at B.C. Place next March wearing a jersey that pays tribute to the Ottawa teams that won four Stanley Cup titles in an eight year span from 1920-27. According to the team, the sweater balances the past with the present, featuring historical elements with a modern look.

The jerseys feature a large "O" logo that is reminiscent of the team's look prior to 1934 as well as red and black stripes on a cream coloured background, which is also borrowed from the "Barber Poles" uniforms of the past.

The Canucks will pay homage to the Vancouver Millionaires, wearing jersey's they first debuted last season as part of a celebration of 100 years of hockey on the West Coast. The maroon and cream striped sweaters feature a large "Victory V" with the name Vancouver on the front.

The Heritage Classic on March 2nd is a tribute to the 1915 Stanley Cup match between the Millionaires, the champions of the PCHA, and the Senators, champions of the NHA. It marked the first time that the champions from each respective league faced one another for the Cup.

The Canucks will join the Edmonton Oilers (2003) and the Calgary Flames (2011) as Canadian teams to play host to the Heritage Classic. Not only will the event be the largest attended hockey game in British Columbia history, it will mark the first time in NHL history that an outdoor game will be played in a retractable-roof facility.
