Columbus goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky has been named the NHL’s first star of the week for his role in the Blue Jackets’ recent surge.
Bobrovsky posted a league-high four victories last week as the Blue Jackets extended their winning streak to five games. He had a 0.77-against average, a .972 save percentage and a shutout over that span.
Bobrovsky has gone 6-1-1 in his last eight games, improving his record to 8-6-3 with a 2.27 goals-against average and .919 save percentage in 17 appearances this season
Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby was named the week’s second star after leading all skaters with nine assists and 11 points in four games. Crosby is on an eight-game point streak (five goals, 15 assists) and leads the league in scoring with 12 goals and 33 assists in 26 games.
Los Angeles Kings centre Jeff Carter was named the third star after scoring six goals in four games last week. Carter is currently tied for second in the league with 17 goals this season. He has scored 13 goals in his last 13 games and leads the League with six game-winners this season.
