Veteran Pandolfo accepts Islanders' tryout offer

NHL veteran Jay Pandolfo, who previously spent 14 seasons with the rival New Jersey Devils, has accepted an invitation to attend the New York Islanders' training camp later on a tryout basis later this month.

Pandolfo's career with the Devils ended after the 2009-10 season. He tried to make a brief comeback last season, playing 12 games for the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League, scoring two goals and four assists.

Pandolfo has played in 819 career games in his NHL career, scoring 18 goals and 124 assists. He also played in 131 Stanley Cup playoff games, scoring 11 goals and 22 assists. He was also a member of the Devils' Stanley Cup championship teams in both 2000 and 2003.
